Expectations of Christmas
Monday, December 16, 7:00 pmDid you know that the most popular of all Christmas treats, the candy cane, originated from the staff carried by St. Nicholas? That poinsettias are native to Mexico and became popular at Christmas because of their red and green color? These and other facts, stories, and songs of the season are shared during Expectations of Christmas, a special one-night only show that features some of Ensemble Theatre's most recognizable actors.Tickets are $15 and all proceeds benefit our Over-the-Rhine neighbor Tender Mercies, which provides permanent and transitional housing for the homeless with histories of chronic mental illness.
Pay-what-you-can previewsThroughout the season, Ensemble Theatre offers Pay-What-You-Can previews for select productions. This initiative simultaneously allows our actors an audience before we open, but perhaps more importantly allows us to offer discounted admittance to our critically-acclaimed productions to new audiences and/or patrons who may not otherwise be able to afford the cost of full-priced admission.
The previews, which are final dress rehearsals, are often presented in partnership with other local non-profit organizations whose mission or goals dovetail with a show's themes and all proceeds collected benefit the partner organization. Past partner organizations have included: OTR Future Leaders, STOP AIDS, ALS Association, Freestore/Foodbank, Human Rights Campaign, GLSEN, and Susan G. Komen Foundation, Greater Cincinnati Chapter.
